Verbal Dark Arts

by Lori Hoeck on April 4, 2014

(LYRICS)

Lies fly by and drive the media script,
As politicians tighten their verbal grip.
No truth can be told unless twisted apart.
No facts allowed in this blackest of arts.

With political correctness, the elite decide,
What sayings are good or to be tossed aside.
Thoughts are controlled with equal guilt–
They hope independence will weaken and wilt.

(chorus)
Stop the lie: You can legislate behavior.
Stop the lie: Government is savior.
Stop the lie: You can force another’s thoughts.
Stop the lie: We can’t call our own shots.

Words matter, especially when banned;
Those who control them understand.
Give ‘em an inch, they’ll torch a mile.
Look beyond their parental smile.

The truth matters, especially when rare.
Don’t let the “deciders” tell you they care.
Find what’s behind the sound bite haze.
Fight their dark arts with truth set ablaze.

(chorus)
Stop the lie: You can legislate behavior.
Stop the lie: Government is our savior.
Stop the lie: You can force another’s thoughts.
Stop the lie: We can’t call our own shots.
